I know it's early, but in case I don't get a chance to say it again before Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving!
What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Nana, Papa and Uncle Richie are coming up here tomorrow. The Livesey's are going to Alex's family's house but might come here first for a while. The kids are very excited. And in case you are reading Nana, the kids have a surprise for you and Papa that I think you will both like.
The kids have been keeping busy with sports as usual. Soccer is officially over, although Steph might play some indoor soccer this winter. Chris and Derek are both playing basketball on the same team.
Dilynn is a happy camper.. she got a "bookface" account. a.k.a. Facebook. So if you are on facebook, be sure to "friend" Dilynn.
I did a photo shoot for a good friend of mine, took her family's Christmas card photo. I also shot "The World Goes Round - a review of the music of Kander and Ebb". Here are a few of my favorite shots;
Can you believe all the Christmas music and decorations already? I guess it's up this early every year, but it surprises me every year!
Chrisie is off to a good start on her Christmas shopping, I need to do the same. Hopefully next week!
Oh I almost forgot the "Caroline story". Steph's class got a class pet. It's a Guinea Pig (did I spell that right?) Anyway, after much debate and voting, the pigs name is Caroline. The kids all love it. Works for me... a pet that doesn't have to stay at our house, what could be more perfect. But then it happened... she brought home the permission slip. Mom, could we keep Caroline for a weekend? Just one weekend? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssssssseeeeeeee? Well, we'll see I told her... but not this weekend. She seemed happy with the glimmer of hope that she might one day get to have Caroline at the house for a whole weekend. This all happened way before the weekend of course.
So later in the week I find out that a good friend of Steph's won the "permission slip raffle" and she gets to take Caroline home. But wait, Friday afternoon, this girl goes home sick. So my next door neighbor, who thought she was off the hook for that weekend, got the phone call "can you come pick up Caroline for the weekend". So she did, and her son was thrilled. And Steph was even thrilled to have Caroline next door to her house :-)
THEN, I got the call... Monday morning... our neighbor was sick and was not going to school, could I bring Caroline to school? Sure, how bad could that be. Well my neighbor said, you might want to go in early, the cage is a bit big and hard to carry through a crowd of kids. OK I said, thinking how big could it be.
WELL, when I saw the size of the cage I could not believe it. It was HUGE. Along with her large travel bag of goodies and food (who knows what else the kids put in there.. ). And, said my neighbor, DON"T lift it by the handle, the top and bottom are not attached well so they will fall apart and you will be chasing a Guinea Pig through the school parking lot. (I won't be chasing anything I thought.. ) Oh and by the way, good thing my neighbor's son was not going to school that day, he said the Guinea Pig kept him up all night gnawing on stuff...
So, we somehow got the huge cage into the car. I tried to put a seatbelt on it so it wouldn't move, but it didn't fit aroudn the cage. We made it to school, and as I barely got my arm around this huge cage and carried it through the parking lot, into the school, past the "greeters desk" where I'm supposed to sign in before going any further (yeah, right, that didn't happen!), up the stairs, down the hall and into the classroom, sweat running down my forehead... I told Steph, I think this counts as your turn for bringing Caroline home. And she said OK mom.
Have I told you the dead squirrel story????? Oh, that's a good one! I will have to tell you that one next time.. much better than the Caroline story!
Happy Thankgiving!
