OK, I'm back. It's 10:30 at night and I just got a phone call from Stephanie. She is at a sleepover party with a bunch of 10, 11 adn 12 year olds (she is 9) and is about 45 minutes away. She better not call and want me to come get her in the middle of the night. One of the girls from her gym, who lives north of the gym (we live south of the gym) invited her to a birthday sleep over. Steph just called from her friends cell phone to say hi. They are having a ball..
Yesterday Steph and Dilynn went to the annual start of the softball season indoor clinic that is run by the Rhinebeck Varsity softball team.... or should I say the Rhinebeck State Champion softball team. Yes, they won it all last year and are pretty excited to be starting this year. Steph loves softball now, she didn't love it on Thursday, but she did well at the clinic and had a great time so now she loves it again. only problem is that she has moved up to the next higher level in gymnastics and is expected to be at the gym 4 days a week... doesn't leave much time for softball.... Dilynn loves softball as well and did great last night, she is in the major leagues, Steph is in the minor leagues so won't get to play together.
Chris has started spring soccer and his favorite, baseball has started as well.
Chris also played in the All-County Band a few weeks ago. He tried out in the winter and was very excited to make the band (he plays French Horn). Since the kids that made it are all over the county, they just practiced at their own school with their music teacher and the other kids who made it from their school (only 2 band kids from our small school) and then Friday, the day before the concert, they practiced from 4:00 - 8:00. Then they went back at 9am Sat, the day of the performance and practiced all day up until the performance.
When Chris came home Friday after his first practice. He was funny. He was AMAZED at how good the band sounded. He said, "I knew we'd sound good, but I didn't think we'd be THAT good". Let's see if I can find a good photo..
Here is the band.. you can't see Chris in this photo..
Here he is getting on stage..
One more..
On MOnday I went to the elementary school to take pictures of the 5th graders doing "Literary Performances" for the 2nd graders. Then they read to them... guess who Derek is supposed to be??
More tomorrow I hope, have a great Sunday!
